Production Company Outsider approached MARS Volume to provide virtual production expertise for the 2024 Christmas Campaign for homeless charity, Shelter. Directed by renowned creatives Dom&Nic, this heartfelt campaign illustrates a father and daughter’s adventures into an imaginary, sci-fi/space landscape - a wonderful opportunity to utilise the creative possibilities of Virtual Production, powered by real-time VFX from Unreal Engine.
The MARS Volume team provided virtual production workflows and operation expertise - from concept right through to shooting in the studio. Key to the successful delivery of a 3D Virtual Production shoot is ensuring the right team members speak to each other at the right time - and most of this takes place in pre-production. The MARS Volume team ensured all key VP milestones were met and were in close communication with content creators Rascal, to ensure that all scenes were optimised, tested and ready for the pre-light and the shoot.
‘A World of Our Own’ is a touching Christmas Campaign that allowed directors Dom&Nic to immerse the talent into the landscape of another planet. Having the environments mapped on the 25.5 x 5 LED screen at MARS Volume enabled the father and daughter protagonists to interact with the landscape in a way that green screen simply wouldn’t be able to support, while also providing the perfect lighting conditions.
