BBC approached MARS Volume to promote the annual BBC Earthshot Prize, the most prestigious environment prize in history. Each year, five awards are presented to individuals for their contributions and solutions to solving the world’s biggest environmental challenges.

Presented by Prince William, MARS Volume offered the Earthshot team a quick, efficient and more sustainable solution when considering how to film the pre-recorded content for the ceremony.

The content, created by Hello Charlie, included brilliant environments from a field with golden grass to the expanse of space, with Earth nestled amongst the stars. Using CG plates, no camera-tracking and very little art department, this ‘stripped-back’ shoot demonstrates how effective simplicity can be captured on a Volume.

The collaboration between the MARS Volume and BBC teams was successful, and in a short time-frame we were able to deliver an awards presentation unlike anything seen before.
