Project Background

Culprits is a limited series British heist television series created by J Blakeson. The series premiered on Star via Disney+ on 8 November 2023 in several countries around the world as a Star Original.

After a high-stakes heist, a crew of elite criminals go their separate ways and try to leave their old lives behind, but the past and present collide when a ruthless assassin starts targeting them one by one.

What We Did

The production crew behind Culprits chose MARS Volume to deliver their transportation and driving scenes. From motorbikes to cars – and even a high speed car crash. Our team helped the production achieve controllable and safe car crash scenes that captured the drama and realism required for the storyline. Being able to shoot consistently and safely, without the need for closing roads, working around weather and with easy access to the talent between takes, meant that MARS Volume was the best solution for achieving these scenes.

The Results

The Culprits production achieved more shots per filming hour than they would have been able to on location, and with more naturalistic lighting realism that green screen would have permitted. The season aired to rave reviews.
